Clinicals are a review major part of nursing school. It can be stressful to be assigned a patient where you need to make sure you accomplish your assignment to-do list all while balancing a pleasing act between your clinical instructor and the nurse who actually has the patient. There was often disagreement between the two in my experience. Nurses eat their young. It is catty and unnecessary but very much so a part of nursing school culture. The reality is that many of the ways that nursing is practiced is a preference. Im not saying all things, but i am saying that many, many, many of the things are. With my work i have already let them know that i am returning to school and would need, help with on-call, so i can guarantee i have time to finish my assignments. I am currently looking for a local rn to assist with on-call and once i get one, i will take every other week off from taking call. This will help me with my time, but will hurt me financially as I have counted on the on-call pay. All in all, i believe i am ready to take on these challenges and stressors and complete the rn-bsn program to pursue my short term goals and be a little closer to my long term goals. I have a fabulous and caring husband and children to assist with any obstacles I may face. I want to show my children that with hard work and determination, you can do anything you set your mind. I am so excited to be starting my journey back to school and hopeful to make my goals.
